It’s Not What You Learn It’s Who You Meet

I went out to dinner with a group of seasoned entrepreneurs and a group of young Emory students. We ate delicious food while each student spoke about his or her idea. I presented Usit (an on-demand babysitting app) for 15 minutes while responding questions and then everybody participated in 30 seconds suggestions to share their final thoughts on the business plan. The most intriguing part of the dinner was the brainstorming that occurred when both experienced and inexperienced entrepreneurs shared their ideas.
It was my first intellectual dinner of sorts where I learned something new continuously. If you ever have the chance to experience this, bring a notepad and pen!
I realized how lucky it is to be in an environment where you can seek expert advice from a group who’s been exactly in your shoes.
My summer at Rigor has been a significant experience, and I’ve come to realize the most valuable takeaway isn’t what you learn in the internship, it’s who you meet. Connecting with others leads you to a new unique viewpoint and has potentially life-altering effects.
At my dinner, I learned about Facebook bots, iPhone case, and battery patents, tourism apps that target a growing Chinese market and Roombas that you can integrate API’s into!
The startup world has become even more engrossing.
